I may not be American; however, I was impressed by some of Obama's speeches lately. However, will he live up to his promises (like helping the middle class families)? Anyways, let's see how this all ends up.

Re: 2013 United States Elections
I live in America, so generally, I think he has been helping the middle class these past 4 years since he was elected in 2008. I'm in the middle class, a democrat, so I listen to everything he (and everyone else for that matter) says.
Mitt Romney doesn't care about the middle class and the poor. He is going to try and cut benefits only to get wealthier. Those services they have for the disabled? He will cut them all off and cater to the wealthy. That's all Republicans do, from what I've seen. I'm not into politics like I really should be, but I know what's right and what's wrong. Mitt even insulted races of color and retired veterans of war in his 47% comment at the secret fundraiser.
Also, what Todd Akin says about women and legitimate... well, if you've seen it, then you'll know what I'm talking about. How can ANYONE vote for that guy, or worse, side with him? He agrees that women should be paid less for the same work that men do. That's absolute discrimination by gender! He's also trying to abolish abortion, minimum wages and medicare. That guy is sexist and I feel sorry for the idiot sap of a woman who married him. Women who are working and are single will have it even harder than a man.
Also, those senior citizens who have medicare will be cut if that guy gets into the senate.
Ha... I'm not voting for cheap scum like him or Mitt. No offense to Republicans floating around, but this is just how I feel, as a woman of America. We should all have the same rights and benefits. This is why I wish I could move to Europe where one of my male friends live...

Re: 2013 United States Elections
^Interesting points there Hylia. You seem to have quite some knowledge about the candidates (most of which I wasn't aware of). I'm Canadian, so I am not too involved within American politics.
Anyways, it seems like Obama does have the best views so far. He did reverse some of the bads that George Bush did in the past and he seems to have views directed towards the general people unlike the other candidates. I'm not sure how this will go in the end though (though Todd Akins sounds like a guy fom the past!)....

Re: 2013 United States Elections
Hm, my knowledge comes from watching TV with my mother, and then digging up the rest of the "dirt" on the internet to find out more about people. So, it's not by what others have said that influenced me say what I said. Trust me, you don't want to be involved in the politics of America, especially now. It's nasty.
Yeah, Obama does have the upper hand so far, and I'm so waiting for that debate on Wednesday. My mom and I will be glued to the television the entire time. He's a Christian man, and has a strong belief in God, and has Him first in life. I understand religion shouldn't be "mixed" with politics as most people say, but I still believe that it's right. (I'm Christian myself)
And yeah, Todd Akin is living in the past of the 1500's. We should build a Time Machine and send him back there...

Haha, this part made me laugh! Though I guess that's where he belongs...with his own kind.
Also thanks for the advice. Though politics are generally brutal everywhere. Though around here, it's just old guys just quarreling against each other.
I personally haven't kept up to date with the American election news; however, I'll be sure to check out more info soon. America is a leading nation, and its government definitely has an impact all around the world.

The debates last week seemed to have gone fine, but most are saying that Romney "dominated".
I don't think so.
His plans will still destroy the entire US.

Re: 2013 United States Elections
Sorry to bump and double post, but I was watching the debates today, the Vice Presidential ones. Biden just owned Ryan, in my opinion. He was on him like fire and that's exactly what the Obama campaign needed.
Video Game Logic: Remember in Super Smash Bros Melee, that point value that said "No R 4 U"? I think I know what the R stands for: Romney and Ryan.

^Don't worry about the double post, Hylia. Updating a topic is always fine.
Well, if that's the case then that's good news indeed. I haven't been keeping up to date with the US election news (apologies if I get anything wrong or misinterpreted); however, I still do believe that Obama is probably the best for the country at this point of time. His views seem more beneficial as well as a whole.
Haha, dragging Smash Bros. into this topic sure does take talent. Perhaps that may very well be the meaning of that (so Melee was a sign for the future). Let's hope so.

Re: 2013 United States Elections
I actually wrote a whole essay type thing as to why I want Obama to win.
Although my first and main reason why I want Obama to win, is because Romney does not care about the LGBT community and if elected president will make it bad for people who are homosexual, bisexual and transgendered.
Not only would Romney not all gay marriage, but he would also allow people to be fired for being gay, bi or transgendered, he would also make it that it wouldn't be a hate crime to hurt, attack or even kill a person who is LGBT, as well as not allow gay adoption.
As govenor of Massachusetts, he also cut funding for LGBT youth services, Suicide prevention, safety and hate crimes awareness.
Since I don't live in Massachusetts I don't know the current events there, but I'm sure it wasn't as good as it was prior.
And as a member of the LGBT community, I find this disgusting and that is why I am against Mitt Romney.
It's fine that Mitt Romney is religious, but if you're going to be the president or ruler of any country, you should not put your personal beliefs into the law, it's not right because everyone else all have different beliefs.
But, I also have other reasons. I do think abortion should be legal, free healthcare, birth control. etc..

Re: 2013 United States Elections
^Wow...you really thought that through Hotspot. It would be interesting to hear more from your essay; however, I can see where you're going with this.
The debate last Tuesday was quite an interesting one especially with Obama and Romney dueling it out in such a fight. Obama brought up some good points though I felt Romney kept trying to put Obama down in each of his points. Regardless, the fight for President status seems to be heating up.
Also am I the only one who kept thinking that Romney's experiences felt more like his own "on the spot stories"? They just felt so odd to listen to and also hard to believe imo during the last debate. :S

I thought they were going to murder each other in the first 10 minutes. XD
I think Obama did great, the only thing I agree'd with was the way Romney talked about Health care... but it doesn't mean that's what he'll do.. politicians lie frequently.
I have my essay on my journal forum that I use as...well a journal, if you don't mind I can link to the post I mad,e or even copy and paste it all onto here.

Re: 2013 United States Elections
Well, I"m too young to vote, but if I could, I"d go Romney all the way. Mostly because of how Obama has done in his 1st term. I belive this video pretty much sums it up:
He has made no positive progress at all.
And most reacently, how he handled the terriost attack in bengazi was absoultly unexceptable, and he shouldn't go un-punished. 3 seals and our Embassator was requesting extra security for months before the attack and got none. The night they where being attacked on 9-11, they requested help and was denied. After 9-11, they tried to blame it on a video mocking the muslim religon. He did this because he wanted to keep America beliveing that after HE "killed" Osama, that al-Qaeda was gone for good. But it didnt take long for the facts to come out, and now he isn't admiting to anything.
Anyway, I honestly belive he is working against America. I just don't see how anyone can be as bad as him. I belive that him being the socialist that he is, he doesn't want America to be a great nantion anymore. He wants it to be like any other avarge country. His first term he had to go easy because he needs to be re-elected. But if he does get re-elected, then he will have more "Flexablility", as he puts it.
Anyway. Lets calm our selfs with a little humor.

Re: 2013 United States Elections
You're missing the point of what Romney will do though, Will.
Obama has made progress. Things he wants passed can't get passed because of Republicans in the House. You also have to consider what he walked into in 2008. Bush made a huge mess, and Obama has been doing his best to fix it. The deficit? He's fixing that. You guys want change so fast, but it can't happen that way. Everything takes time.
What I didn't like what Romney did was basically trying to impose his belief on me and other people. Just because he doesn't support abortion, he'll get rid of that. He wanted companies to tell their employees (females) if they can take birth control pills or not, or if they'll cover it. So basically, if I wanted to be with a man, I can't take the birth control pill to keep myself from getting pregnant.
Not only THAT, but this guy that said "legitimate r@pe" was stupid! There is NO such thing as that!
Also, he was going to cut minimum wages. So, the employers get to decide what they'll pay you. So you could be at work and only getting paid $1 an hour. How will you live off that? You can't.
He was also not for equal pay for equal work. Women would get paid less than the man that works the same job. That isn't right, either.
He and the rest of the Republican party tried Voters Suppression. He was going to cut health insurance and replace it for a voucher.
I'm not going to vote for a guy who insulted me as a woman and tried to take away MY rights in his campaign. No way. I'm so glad Obama won.

My Reply: Every president has to deal with what the previous president(s) have done, this is true. But do you honestly believe that he had nothing or even little to do with the 5.5 trillion dollar increase in our national debt? No, that falls on President Obama. But even if all that was passed on him somehow, how exactly is he fixing that? Because I can't recall a time when the debt ever went down. So no, he is not “fixing that.” as you said. It's not that I want rapid change, but at least a slight positive improvement would be good. But your right, it takes time, maybe he'll do better in his next 4 years. Even though no improvements in his last term can support dream.
You said: "Just because he doesn't support abortion, he'll get rid of that."
Abortion is killing. Weather you like it or not, it is the truth. That baby inside of the womb is a living human. Why do you think it is called “Pro-Life”? Most abortions are result of girls who don't want the responsibility to take care of another life. Romney knows this also and wants to stop the death of the most helpless humans on the planet. Your making this sound like a bad thing.
I believe that intercourse should wait until marriage. If you really can't control your self’s take the right steps of prevention. If you end up pregnant, instead of killing the baby, have it and give it to a willing Couple that can't have their own. It would make them so very happy.
The only time I see abortion acceptable is if there is a chance of death of the mother as a result of birth.
Also can you find video or a quote of Romney actually saying he wanted to:
"Also, he was going to cut minimum wages. So, the employers get to decide what they'll pay you. So you could be at work and only getting paid $1 an hour. How will you live off that? You can't.

Because I never heard any of this, not even in the debates, and these are pretty important points, don't you think?
You Said: "I'm so glad Obama won."
Are you glad of how he won? Romney had Obama’s bad records to run his campaign on, but what did the President run his on? His tactics was to make Romney look like some kind of villain with out outrageous and hurtful lies. Which you feel for. Obama waged the “War on Women” and you fell for it.
Here's a nice article: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/beck-explores-whos-really-waging-the-war-on-women-hint-its-not-republicans/
You made it pretty clear what you where concerned about in your reply from my original post, Womans Rights, you should have also been looking at other topics.
ALSO
Also the president is the Commander in Chief, he leads are armed forces...well is suppose to at least. Apparently 3 Navy Seals and the US AMBASSADOR is expendable to him. As I said in my last post, there was a team ready to move in to help our fellow Americans and they where ordered not to go in and grant them back up? Why was this done and who gave the order? They tried to cover up the attack by making it look like the youtube video's fault. He did this to conintue the illusion that he defeated al-qaeda by ordering the command to kill Osama Bin Laden. I see his reasoning for trying to cover it up, but why didn't he let the help go in to try to save the ambassador and seals in the first place? If only Americans knew that it was a cover up....who could we blame for that?
Think about the the guy who made the video? He got arrested for making the video. Guess he dosn't get his freedom of speech like the rest of us. His life is over now because everyone thinks it his fault.
Final Thoughts:
Obama has been re-elected due to the media not doing their jobs. They have not been reporting everything Obama has done, and even covers for him, and makes Republicans look bad. Also people are too in love with their handouts to worry about the real problems.

That's all it takes is time. You think Romney would do better? He would outsource jobs. If that's what it took to fix the deficit then I may as well move to China. He is trying to fix the deficit. I never said he had nothing to do with the increase of the national debt. I know he is, but not ALL of it is his fault. Sometimes, to fix things, you have to add onto the issue in order to get the problem solved. I would throw in an example, just can't find the appropriate one to use at the moment. There are positive improvements, you just can't see them, or you don't think they're enough to "satisfy" you. Hm.
Will wrote:Abortion is killing.
I understand abortion is killing. I personally don't support it myself, and don't like it either. I'm not making this sound like a good thing, not at all. I simply said Romney wanted to take away a WOMAN'S right and choice to have an abortion. It's still her choice. You can't impose your beliefs on what you think abortion is right or wrong a someone else. That's not fair and you're trying to control their bodies. Some females don't always go for the abortion. They either give them up for adoption or keep them. It's still a choice. However, that blood is on their hands. They have to go through that as a person. What if someone tried to make you do something that was their belief and you didn't believe in it? Would that be fair? No. Not only that, but birth control, to prevent pregnancies. He would take that away too, so yeah. No thanks.
I also believe that intercourse should be left until marriage. Still, you can't force people to do what you want them to do.
Will wrote:Also can you find video or a quote of Romney actually saying he wanted to:
"Also, he was going to cut minimum wages. So, the employers get to decide what they'll pay you. So you could be at work and only getting paid $1 an hour. How will you live off that? You can't.
He was also not for equal pay for equal work. Women would get paid less than the man that works the same job. That isn't right, either."
Because I never heard any of this, not even in the debates, and these are pretty important points, don't you think?
I'm pretty sure I could.
Will wrote:Are you glad of how he won? Romney had Obama’s bad records to run his campaign on, but what did the President run his on? His tactics was to make Romney look like some kind of villain with out outrageous and hurtful lies. Which you feel for. Obama waged the “War on Women” and you fell for it.
Obama didn't rage a war on woman's rights; the Romney campaign idiots did it first. Romney himself isn't to blame for that, but he went along with it, so he and basically anyone that messes with woman's rights, are at fault.
Ha-ha, outrageous and hurtful lies? Romney has some, too. Ever read about the Sensata story? Romney was behind that. Everyone's got their bad records. Sorry. I don't support rich people who only want to get richer. On a side note, I also don't support people who insult me for my race. Obama being black has nothing to do with it, by the way.

You made it pretty clear what you where concerned about in your reply from my original post, Womans Rights, you should have also been looking at other topics.
So what if I was all about Woman's Rights? I'm a female. I have a right to be concerned about me and other women. I'm not normally a selfish person, but that affected me the most. You don't understand. I'm a black female. I already have two strikes against me because of that. Romney would make it EVEN more harder for me to work. I'd have to work TWICE as hard as, no offense, the white man next to me. TWICE as hard. It's society that's why. I don't even have insurance yet, but Romney wanted to CUT that and replace it with a voucher! He's basically saying "here's a voucher for, oh 1,000 dollars and then you're on your own!" Just no. Middle Class would have been done for. You, me especially, and everyone that's in Middle Class. I know all Republicans aren't the same, and I would have gone for Romney if he hadn't said ridiculous things.
Yes, the deficit is important. I will never shy away from that. Also, I don't read articles from the internet because you can't tell if it's true or not. I read the newspaper. I know, it's the same thing, but I don't trust much of the internet when it comes to politics like this.
Will wrote:Also the president is the Commander in Chief, he leads are armed forces...well is suppose to at least.
They were NOT expendable to him. How dare you even say that?! I think you need to look into this more before you pin this on the man who is trying to help you and everyone else. There's going to be mistakes. Nobody is perfect. People expect Obama to be this perfect guy, but he can't be. It's human nature to make mistakes. There's always a reason for an action not taken. Always. Stop involving Benghazi and this into politics because it has nothing to do with politics. Stop blaming people and pointing the finger, because three fingers are pointing right back at you.
Will wrote:Think about the the guy who made the video? He got arrested for making the video. Guess he dosn't get his freedom of speech like the rest of us. His life is over now because everyone thinks it his fault.
If you're talking about that guy who made the Muhammed video, then that was very insulting to the Arabs. Because of that, it caused them to hate America as a whole.
If you meant the Youtube video, then well, he should have been careful about what he was doing. I still find it unfair that he was arrested for it. He did have the freedom of speech; everyone does. He used it. I'm beginning to believe there's a "limit" on how much freedom we really have. Because really, not everything is free.
Will wrote:Final Thoughts:
Obama has been re-elected due to the media not doing their jobs. They have not been reporting everything Obama has done, and even covers for him, and makes Republicans look bad. Also people are too in love with their handouts to worry about the real problems.

Media has done their job on both sides.
You're not looking at the right channels to see them.
So, I'm not mad at you. Just disappointed in what you said. Now, if I were younger, I'd get seriously offended by what you said about abortion and rights. There are some things that made me question about what Obama has done and everything. I'm not a political person, but when something jeopardizes my rights, I will stand up for it.
I will not let someone take something from me when I have a voice.
I'm a proud Democrat, a proud African American, Irish and Native American-descent young woman. I don't care if anyone, you included Will, that will like me after this. I stand for what I believe in and you stand for what you believe in. I've said my piece, and I'm going to leave it right there. So you can respond all you like; my responses will be the same irregardless.
