I'm sure that most of you have probably read at least one book written by Shakespeare (whether it be a passage to the whole book). In my opinion, I think some of his books were good while others I never really got into. Romeo & Juliet (which I did in grade 11) was ok...but I never found it amazing as others have said. I actually liked Hamlet a lot more (procrastinators should read this book - Hamlet is the king of procrastinating).

Shakespeare's Writings
So are you a fan of Shakespeare and his stories from the past? Provide feedback to the books (which he wrote) that you did read.

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
^Don't worry, you're not the only one. I don't like the Shakespeare writing style as well (I find it confusing too - each sentence is like a poem). It's much too outdated for us in comparison to our modern writing style. Of course, some historians and English teachers (lol) love it...however, the style isn't too easy to read at first.
If we were given some of Shakespeare's stories in a more simpler English text, perhaps more of the younger generation might like it...but then again his writing style also contributes to his stories in other ways as well...

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
I love Shakespeare. His writing is beautiful and flows well. I've read Romeo and Juliet as well as Hamlet and Julius Caesar. I'm tempted to read more.
Oh yeah, I believe the English he used is Middle English. One of my favourite languages.

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
^Ah, that's cool to know. XD You did mention your love for various languages before.
At first, I found Shakespeare books to be rather challenging to read, but I guess that was because school often places deadlines on reading various parts of his writings from his books. However, when reading it during free time, I find that his books are actually a lot more interesting than the first time around. Indeed, his writing style does contribute well to it.
I actually re-read Hamlet again recently, and I actually feel tempted to read more of his writings now. XD I guess I understood the writing better the second time around.

Yes. It takes a while for the meanings of some of his words to soak in. This is why I like it. You can interpret it however you want.

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
Well we had to read Remo and Juliet for school not to long ago. I always thought it was a dumb play, but it was actually better than I was expecting. Sometime into act 3 I acutally found my self not sleeping while my class mates where reading there lines. I'm not saying I "liked" it, but it was pretty good. Will I ever read it on my own? No.

I only read Romeo and Juliet. And I'm not a big fan of his writing, but I must admit, it was a great book.

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
I read Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet at school, and I've seen a couple of film adaptations of each one.

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
I have yet to read Macbeth; however, I am tempted to read more of Shakespeare's plays and writings as a whole.
I did start Julius Caesar recently, and I really should get back to completing it. XD

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
Yep, you sure did and thank you.
So far, it's been an intriguing read as well. XD Just some more reading to do before I can give a true opinion. XD

Re: Shakespeare's Writings
if you like shakespeare
then wtf is wrong with you.
j/k.
I'm kinda like Shakespeare books since it's only book that I'm currently reading in school. The old english maybe problem, but still. I kinda like it, and my favorite Shakespeare book is Romeo and Juliet.
