Digimon Topic (anime)

Digimon was a series that was made in the mid-'90s that was developed into an anime series shortly afterwards. It, like Pokemon, became popular and both sort of competed with each other. Personally, I liked both. Even though the title names were similar, the stories and characters were completely different in the shows.

I personally love the Digimon anime, and I like it more than the Pokemon anime personally. The first season especially had a great story and well developed characters.

So what are your opinions on Digimon? Feel free to keep talking about anything Digimon related here!

For everyone who wants to know a little bit more about Digimon Anime and manga
Brief Timeline:

1997 - Digimon was created, first manga (C'mon Digimon):

-It's main character Kamon Kentarou was the inspiration for Yagami Taichi, character in second manga, and first anime, this manga vas very short, only one chapter...

1998 - Second Digimon manga (Digimon Adventure: V-Tamer 01) was created:

-This manga was the inspiration for Digimon Adventure anime, lots of characters are similar, but the plot is very very different, unlike the previous manga, this one is the longest, we're talking about 58 chapters! xD

1999 - First anime season (Digimon Adventure) was created:

-The legendary season... the most famous and the best season of Digimon. When somebody says word "digimon", this season is the first thing that comes in everybodys mind.

2000 - The second anime (Digimon Adventure 02) was created:

-Sequel to Digimon Adventure... very interesting season, the armor evolution, and armor type digimon first time introduced in this season, aswell as some other types of evolution like DNA Evolution...

2001 - Third anime (Digimon Tamers) was created:

-Season a bit different than the previous, also very interesting, lots of new stuf introduced there.

*Funny thing, first time I watched this season was in Japanese on Cable Tv, i understood nothin'... and i thought that the character Takato was female xD, I thought that for really long time, i think like maybe 1 or 2 years ago i just found out xDDD

2002 - Fourth anime (Digimon Frontier) was created:

-Season very different from previous... the Hybrid evolution was introduced, and the Hybrid type digimon, which means the tamers now don't have digimon partners but they become digimon. It is very different, but not very bad... it's worth watching.

2004 - Third Digimon manga (Digimon Chronicle) was created:

-Also very short manga, only 4 chapters long... it's interesting.. i guess...

2005 - Fourth manga (Digimon D-Cyber) created:

-This is actualy a chinese manhua (manga in chinese), created by Yuen Wong Yu, he was making the manhua versions of anime, and translating mangas to chinese, the other manhuas were only like translated and very similar, but this one is actualy very altered version of Digimon Chronicle, it's so different that it's considered a separate season.

2006 - Fifth manga (Digimon Next) created:

-Interesting manga, this manga was inspiration for the fifth anime season (Digimon Savers), the digivice, and the digimon were the inspiration, human characters and the plot are not similar.

2006 - Fifth season of anime (Digimon Savers) created:

-Known as "Digimon Data Squad" in United States, this is one of very unique seasons. The Characters aren't children, but teenagers, and there is no "goggle-boy", but on the bright side the Agumon is back, although he looks a bit different than the old one (red gloves, yellow skin, less teeth, no muscles). Certain digimon look is chainged in this season, but not drastically.

2010 - Final (sixth) season of digimon (Digimon Xros Wars):

-Known as "Digimon Fusion" in United states, only season to have both anime and manga. On the begining of the season it seemed pretty lame to me, but on the end they have improved. There were no digivolution, but the new thing called digixross (similar to DNA evolution), the digimon don't evolve, but fuse (xross) with each other in order to create a more powerful digimon... LAME! also there were no cool stuff like digidestined or digimon partners, nor digimon tamers, but digimon hunters, who had their digimon collection (they started copying pokemon!), also they kept certain (legendary) digimon in so-called "digimemories"(also copies pokeballs). And most of the digimon looked nothing like in previous seasons... for example look at MetalGreymon:

WTF!?!? Although they have ruined the old digimons, the new ones looked pretty cool like Shoutmon, Dorulumon, Ballistamon, ... and the "goggle-boy" was back! YAY! Despite the few virtues, there were far many shortcomings to I actually like the season... I guess i wasn't the only one that had this oppinion, after the season "ended" (with 54 episodes), they have started a new season:

2011 - Digimon Hunters:

- which (if you ask me) was only made to straighten the stuff, it only had 25 episodes... The digimon did evolve eventually (but only once), some old digimon were back, and in the final battle, the "Old Clock Shop man" travelled trough time, and brought all digimon leaders from previous seasons to fight together. That ending was pretty spectacular, so i guess it is the end of digimon anime... and also later on it was announced that Digimon Hunters is not the separate (seventh) season, but just the part of 6th one (Xros Wars)... they probably did it becouse the Digimon Xros wars would be the worst season ever...
As much as i absolutely love Digimon, i also absolutely dislike Xros Wars.

2012 - Final manga. (Digimon World Re:Digitize):

The only manga made by a video game. Only 2 chapters long...

^Wow, you sure do know a lot about Digimon. 0.0 Good job with that list Chrom, and I'm sure that your post will definitely help Digimon and non-Digimon fans alike to recognize the history of the animated and manga series.

Also wow, the redesigns of some of the Digimon do look pretty bad. At least it's good to know that the Digimon series is still alive...hopefully, it revives itself to more popularity in the near future.

I loved Digimon when I was a kid... I may start watching it again when I get the chance.

I loved digimon cause of the good looking women digimons or whatever you call them. LOL. But yea digimon was a great show. I loved the movies too.
